LE Cabanon

We were asked to create our version of Le Corbusiers “Le cabanon” measuring 3.6 x 3.6 m. I created a shelter for a retired sea-man and his dog.

While protected from the outside, it also provides an overview of the landscape. A play between the central fire and the surroundings, a modern version of primal needs.

The wooden terrace around the cabin leaves one completely exposed to the weather in contrast to the protected interior.

The location is somewhere on the west coast of Ireland with rough winds and rain. Surrounding the cabin is a gutter in floorlevel, making the rain visible, and the rare sun casting reflections.
